Seattle-based Steinhauer Properties is teaming up with Hard Rock International to build the 427-room Hard Rock Hotel Long Beach.

It will be the first new-construction full-service hotel in Long Beach in three decades. It has been in the works for almost a decade, Steinhauer Properties President Gregory Steinhauer told a crowd at the official announcement of the project on Monday, the Long Beach Business Journal reported.

The hotel will sit on the vacant site that once housed the Jergins Trust Building at 100 East Ocean Blvd., near Pine Avenue in downtown Long Beach. The location is next door to the city’s convention center.

Amenities at the hotel will include “the tallest open rooftop bar on the Southern California Coast,” and a speakeasy with a 250-patron music venue, according to a release for the project.

The Hard Rock Hotel Long Beach is expected to open in the spring of 2027, just in time for the 2028 Olympic Games, which Los Angeles is hosting.
